Flying Flames - The Dragon Who Couldn't Breathe Fire - Year 1/2 E

A story by Mrs Edwards' class

A long, long time ago a spiky dragon called Flying Flames lived in a wet rainforest with his friends Dragon Face, Flying Freak and Bonkers.

Once a year all the dragons had a fireworks party. They used their FIERY FLAMES to light the bonfire.

Flying Flames was very sad.
"It's not fair" cried Flying Flames, "all my friends can breathe fire but I can't."

Poor Flying Flames. What could he do?

He decided to run away.
He flew up in the air... out of the rainforest... over his friends... past some seagulls and then spotted...

A VOLCANO!
"Fire!" he cheered.
Flying Flames dived into the volcano and ate some burning lava rocks.

"MMMMMM lovely!" "That was hot." hiccuped Flying Flames.

Then what a shock he had. He gave one huge sneeze, another hiccup and a flame of fire came zooming out of his nostrils.
He couldn't believe it.
He was breathing FIRE!

Flying Flames flew as fast as a jet all the way back to his friends.
"Come on Flying Flames. You can watch us light the bonfire." they called.

"Please can I try?" begged Flying Flames.
"But YOU can't breathe fire," said Bonkers. "Oh let him have a go," laughed Dragon Face.

Flying Flames took a deep, deep breath and blew as hard as he could.
The biggest fiery flames they had ever seen came shooting out of his nostrils.

"HOORAY!" shouted everyone "you did it!"
They watched the pretty fireworks and had a lovely party.
At last Flying Flames felt like a real dragon and he was never sad again.
